A sorry portrait of poor Watermelon Willy who didn't believe his big brothers when they warned him of the dangers of eating watermelon seeds. He forever has to fight the urge to take a bite of his own cranium on those hot summer days. What torture. He doesn't seem to mind though...at least the kids will stop calling him football head.
Digital Illus. Class: My second attempt at conquering Photoshop with paint has seemed pretty successful. I think the digitalness of painting digitally (if that made any sense) will be my greatest struggle to overcome but hopefully with the addition of more brushes and textures that can be conquered. PLEASE CRITIQUE. I need all the help I can get.

Your first digital paintings?! You could have fooled me. I think your painting is awesome, and the colors are working really well. The one thing that kind of wierds me out is the blue reflected light on the watermelon side of the face. Maybe it's just a little strong, or maybe it's that it appears to be in light, not in shadow.
Okay, first I really love it, especially the dumb expression on his face...he's dumber than a fruit. Maybe a value push would be good? Make the darks a little darker? What do you think?
The colors are great, the head is odd but is supposed to be that way. The only thing I would say to improve it is to give him arms that have the watermelon vines coming out of them.

WIERD. But I think that's why I like it. He TOTALLY looks like a Willy. So wierd you want to keep looking at it to figure it out!
