IF: Superhero AJAX Attack

Ridiculously Clean Rob (a nickname I contrived myself...just now) is my hero because after all growing up he was the only one who EVER cleaned the bathroom. (Except for my lame attempts once a year or so.) Armed with the mighty powers of AJAX, a toothbrush, and elbow grease no grime was left unscrubbed. I am sorry Rob for all that pressure to clean. It must keep you up at nights. So here's to you brother....

DI: This is my very first try at vector art and so far I like it! It was interesting trying to make design decisions in Illustration. With traditional painting I just paint....don't think...and it generally works out one way or another but with the computer I am consciously putting my decisions in the forefront of my mind. I am hoping this helps my traditional work also. Overall I feel it was successful besides some little tidbits here and there. If you are thinking the perspective is wrong...it is....I exaggerrated it quite a bit to give the feeling of the shower coming in on him. Oh and the process would have been much smoother if I had only gotten my Wacom from ebay....sigh....still waiting. Oh well maybe I will just have to break down and buy a graphire from the bookstore.

I think you did a great job, with your first vector attempt! He's adorable, even if he's miserable wearing that toothbrush t-shirt. Nice job!

He really looks overwhelmed and miserable. Poor kid.

I like the overall color scheme of your image. It caught my eye right off. You really need to get that Wacom tablet though. I think it will help you gain some more control of your drawing. There are some places where it gets a bit messy, and your lines either run over the edge or stop short. There also needs to be more thick/thin variation. Also, I was a little confused by the blue shape on the floor behind him; I thought it was water at first, but then I saw that it was a shadow. Maybe make it a different color (purple?) and a bit lighter. I like how he looks shiny - like he's Bubble Boy or something.

I love it. I feel claustrophobic just looking at it! Poor Rob, what a hero. I like how he looks really clean and shiny too.

Man... I pity this boy.
And quite frankly, if I were his parents I'd be a little concerned about his "orientation"... if you know what I mean.
Not that there anything wrong with that. :)
I do notice that his arms project no shadow... at least not one that connects with the rest of him. But hey, maybe that's one of his super powers.

Great concept! I can definately relate to the boy! I like how you made the walls warp - it gives the effect that he is in jail! I agree about the shadow comments too - good job with illustrator!

So true! Rob was the best at cleaning the bathroom (Ash, did you EVER clean the bathroom?) I have to say, that shower looks MUCH cleaner than ours. Love the exaggerated perspective--it's perfect. Where's Rob's freckles?
